About Me
In A Few Words
Passionate about capturing real-world events and people through her eyes to tell stories and document social, political and cultural aspects of society, Alina Totoescu is a professional photographer from the North East of England, who occasionally shoots in Romania, her home country that she loves so much. Passionate about photography since childhood, Alina began studying photography in the UK, first at Darlington College, and later furthered her studies at the Northern School of Art - Hartlepool, where she also studied with Czech photographer Josef Koudelka, a photographer who documents people on the margins of society. Comparing herself somewhat to him, both in terms of life in exile and in terms of the fact that, coming from a former communist country, she experienced some of the reprisals of this regime, Alina realizes that documentary photography is the type of photography that suits her, empathizing with this part of society and therefore, decides to follow Koudelka.
